Down East Spa Shells are vacuum formed without welds or seams from a thick sheet of the finest surface material available, Lucite XL ® with the Antimicrobial Protection of Microban®. This is then reinforced with Tri Band lamination and insulated with heavy foam for thermal conductivity to BS 874 against radiated heat loss.

The colours, lustre and texture of Starry Night (Blue) and Moonscape (Granite) are naturally pleasing and blend in well with the environment, subtly changing hue and character under different lighting conditions. Microban® prevents the build up of surface bacteria while the spas surface wipes clean with a dry cloth or a touch of spa cream.

Microban antimicrobial protection is not a coating on your spa. Rather it has been molecularly built into the LUCITE® cast acrylic surface, in a similar way to the spa’s colour. That makes it a durable part of the spa, both inside and at its surface. So unlike currently available antimicrobial sprays and liquids, Microban antimicrobial protection won’t wash off or wear away, even through cleaning or abrasion. Which means years from now, Microban protection will protect your spa against the growth of bacteria as effectively as it does today.

How Microban® antimicrobial protection fights bacteria.

Microban antimicrobial product protection inhibits the growth of bacteria that cause stains and odours by intercepting bacteria at the spa surface. It begins to work as soon as bacteria comes into contact with the surface of your spa. And it continues to work to maintain a consistently lower bio-burden than would be expected on acrylic-surfaced spas without Microban antimicrobial protection, keeping your spa surface cleaner between cleanings.
