Aromatherapy essential oils are extracted from
natural sources, ie. flowers, grasses, fruits,
leaves, trees and roots.
There are over 300 different essential oils
and quite a few of them are used widely in the
cosmetics and food industries. In fact,
modern day medicines are chemical copies of the
natural sources of essential oils.
Each individual oil has potent medicinal benefits. For
example, Peppermint Oil is excellent for the
relief of digestive disorders but can also treat
rheumatism and arthritis. We all know the
benefits of peppermint oils can bring to confectionery!
Lavender is called the Mother of all Oils as
it has so many benefits which include calming,
sedative and healing. Lavender and Tea
Tree oils are the only two oils that are recommended
to put directly on to the skin. All other
oils should be blended with a carrier oil such
as Sweet Almond Oil to prevent it irritating
the skin.
Essential oils boost the spiritual and emotional
areas of our lives and are powerful anti-viral,
anti-bacterial and anti-fungal remedies.
When entering or leaving the body, essential
oils leave no toxins behind – and therefore
are extremely safe to use. A lymphatic
massage acts as an internal cleanser and helps
to release the bodies own toxins. It is
important that you drink lots of water following
an aromatherapy massage in order to flush out
any released toxins from your body.
The use of aromatherapy oils has been around
for many thousands of years. Babylonians
are said to have scented the mortar used in their
temples – which has been handed down through
the generations.
You might be surprised to learn that aromatherapy
oils are used in what is termed Indirect
Perfuming. Customers are encouraged
to shop and feel relaxed whilst breathing in
various combinations of scents via the store’s
or shopping mall’s ventilation system. Some
airlines use essential oils to help keep passengers
relaxed and work places pipe aromas through their
air-conditioning units to help boost confidence
and productivity.
So, imagine coupling the powerful health benefits
of aromatherapy with the hydrotherapy benefits
of a hot tub. A synergistic force to be
reckoned with.
